KEVIN CARDEN

Kevin Carden has been active in the energy industry for 11 years. Combining broad-based utility and industrial business experience with an understanding of technology, he has joined CEI to solve some extremely complex issues for major energy companies. Responsibilities have included rewriting a major dispatch model for one of the largest public utilities in the nation, risk assessment, resource planning, new generation development, and contract analysis and negotiation for projects >$500M. He has worked on coal, combined cycle, combustion turbine, combined heat and power, wind, solar and ethanol projects.

Prior to joining CEI, Kevin worked for the Southern Company, managing RFPs and existing PPAs as well as performing other Resource Planning functions.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

8/05 to Present - CEI/Independent Utility Consultant
Managed the development of a major risk-based reliability tool (SERVM) for the Southern Company. Performed multiple capital project assessments in wind, solar, ethanol, biomass, coal, nuclear, natural gas.

5/00 to 8/05 Southern Company Services, Birmingham, Alabama
Generation Reliability Manager - Performed reserve margin studies, valuations of energy limited and demand side resources, managed operating procedures for existing PPAs, assisted in all aspects of the RFP process for long term PPAs.
